Sleeping well is essential. A good night’s sleep allows us to face the day with other eyes, with another will. But a well-slept night not only influences our disposition but is also very important for our physical health because it allows us to maintain the balance of our biological system.
Currently, 24 hours a day are not enough for all our tasks, and, therefore, we end up removing hours of sleep that are fundamental to our well-being.
Life has become such a stir that we can no longer respect our natural cycles. This need to be constantly connected and operational changes our circadian rhythms. Sleep, for centuries, was governed by the sun and the moon. Being constantly with artificial luminosity, consuming stimulants routinely or not having regular hours of sleep causes our sleep-wake cycle to change profoundly, causing disturbances in sleep and, in turn, in our whole Being.
However much, we do not give in to fatigue and sleep, we must know our limits and listen to our body when warning signals are sent.
Hours of “normal” sleep have been stipulated for each age, but each has its sleep pattern and may require more or fewer hours to restore body balance through sleep.
Not only is the number of hours essential but also how we sleep during the time we are lying down, that is, how is the quality of our sleep, because how often do we not sleep 8 hours and have that feeling that we do not sleep at all? We may not go through all the fundamental stages of the sleep cycle, as each phase plays an essential role in a well-slept night.
